NaturalMamaX2

We have one more day of school and that is Monday. I'm so much more ready than I was last year. When I say, ready, I mean I've got my book inventory done, my classroom inventory completed, Summer Reading lists stuffed into envelopes, Report Cards filed, etc. See, I have a tendency to put things off until the last minute. Badly. Dh is the same way, so you get the picture. I hope we can get to the chiropractor today on time. I do want to spend just a few minutes with the kids before we leave.

Speaking of chiropractor visits, today will be my 3rd visit. For about 2 months or less, I've had nerve/lower back pain. I've conned a new term for it, keeping-your-baby-on-your-hip syndrome. My right hip bone has pressed a nerve into my left hip bone. I'm some better, but I still groan and moan whenever I have to get up off the floor or stoop over. I'm ready to get back to normal which is NOT sounding like an 80 year old woman.

I've been so pleased with my chiropractor. It's amazing how much better I am and NO DRUGS. There are alternatives out there, people! The only side effects I've had from visiting the chiropractor are: 1. ultimate relaxation and 2. relief. How's that for alternative treatment.

Speaking of alternative treatment, Emory had to go to the doctor on Tuesday. He had red eyes and red ears (to quote the doctor, who, by the way, was in the room with us for ah, 1 minute or so). She prescribed eye drops and an.....drum roll....antibiotic which I knew we were NOT going to get. Even tho the eyedrop is an antibiotic eyedrop, I purchased them at my husband's wishes. Later, I found on the loving internet to treat conjunctivities with medicine only if it hasn't cleared up in 5 days. For the ears, we are doing drops of garlic/olive oil combination. One crushed organic garlic clove in EVOO--warmed a little. Today, I started him on echinacea.

I forgot to do research on Restless Leg Syndrome in children! Emory kicked me all night last night. Sleep was so impossible. We won't be sleeping together tonight. No way. He has been a big kicker since a baby. I was so ill at him this morning. He is a horrible sleeper. I want to see what I can give him for restless legs. Let you know what I find....

Time to go home. Erin will want to nurse ("Mik") and then I will have to make the decision of whether or not to take them with us to the chiropractor or to leave them at MIL's. It would be nice to have a night out......But, we have no money (payday is Monday for some crazy reason), so we wouldn't get to do much. Books-A-Million is always nice. Hmm....stay tuned to find out what I decided.

Random musings....

Am I the only person who actually conversates with myself while driving? Yesterday, no lie, I had an entire conversation with my coworkers in my van. A conversation that could've evolved from the day's lunch date. A conversation where coworkers talked about their children being sick all the time. One has the sinus 'junk' all the time, another has had tubes put in, tonsils taken out, adenoids (sp?) removed, etc. Of course, educated as I am about healthy living (eating) and herbal remedies, I just about had to stuff the entire baked potato in my mouth to keep words from escaping. One coworker's child is in First grade. I have seen him on several occasions walking around after school with a Mountain Dew (IYIYIYI). The day my children walk around school with Mountain Dews is the day I have died and someone other than my parents are raising them. So, alone, I replayed the conversation without the potato stuck in my mouth. I asked them how much dairy their children consumed. I also asked them how much sugar did their children consume. Then, I told them that we are the only animal to consume another animal's milk. Crazy, aren't we? Then, I aked them did they know that it only takes 2 soft drinks to completely shut down the immune system for the day? Boy, I was impressive. They gaped at me in shock as would any other person who lives in my city. A city with absolute no regard to health (shudders in disguist).

Of course, none of this happened because I never spoke up. I was the pushover, silent, I-don't-know-anything person that I always am. Only my true friends and family know my true passion for natural living (health and herbs). I am silent about my knowledge in my efforts to blend in in this unnatural city. A city where you are a freak if you eat fruit and are actually your normal weight. Comments like, "You are so skinny" are intended as insults and not compliments.

Well, this has ended up on a negative note. Healthy living!
